Boolean algebra stops being abstract when you can see the blocks.
Type a boolean expression or fill in a truth table. Karnough lays out the matching K-map in proper Gray-code order, so adjacent cells really are adjacent, then shows how the ones fold together into the largest legal blocks — and reads the minimized sum of products straight off the map.
It teaches the method instead of handing over an answer. Each group is highlighted as its own coloured block, so a bigger block visibly means a simpler term. Karnough walks the simplification a step at a time, saying which variables drop out of each group and why, then assembles the final expression.
Two to four variables, don't-care conditions, a practice mode that checks your own minimization, and a reference for the grouping rules.
Get it on Google PlayToggle a cell. Watch the groups redraw.
This is the app's core loop, running here in the page. Tap any square to cycle it through 0, 1 and X (don't care). The prime implicants are recomputed from scratch on every tap, the blocks are drawn over the grid, and the minimized expression below is assembled from the blocks that survive.
A block may wrap around the edges of the map — the left column is adjacent to the right, and the top row to the bottom. When that happens you'll see the same colour drawn on both sides.
What Karnough actually does for you
Two ways in
Enter a truth table cell by cell, or type a boolean expression and let the app fill the map for you. Both land on the same K-map.
Grouping you can see
Every group is drawn as a coloured block over the cells it covers, including the ones that wrap around the edges. Overlapping blocks stay readable.
The reasoning, step by step
For each block, Karnough names the variables that stay fixed, the ones that fall out, and the term that results — then adds the terms up into the final sum of products.
Don't-cares, handled properly
Mark a cell as X and it will be pulled into a group when that makes the group bigger, and left alone when it doesn't.
Practice and reference
Practice mode hands you an expression to minimize and checks your answer. The reference explains the grouping rules and the logic behind them.
Nothing leaves the phone
No account, no network, no ads, no analytics. The map, the groups and the simplest form — that's the whole app.
CrimsonNest Studio
A one-app-at-a-time studio. We pick topics that are usually taught badly, and rebuild them as something you can touch on a phone. Karnough is the first of them; the next ones follow the same rule — no accounts, no ads, no data leaving your device.
